A Ljubljana to Postojna Cave bus and a guided day are two different products, and the confusion is understandable. Scheduled coaches run between Slovenian towns, and Postojna is a town with a cave beside it. Doing this on scheduled transport in a day is the sort of plan that works on paper and rarely on the road.

If there are several of you: $118, $127 or $729. $118 is ten hours with the cave, the castle and the Adriatic town of Piran, capped at eight guests, 4.9 from 459 reviews; $127 is eleven hours on Bled, the cave and Predjama, also capped at eight, 4.9 from 178. $729 is the private, tailored version out of Zagreb, thirteen hours, and its fare covers the group rather than each person — which is the point at which four or five travellers should do the arithmetic properly before assuming a seat each is cheaper.

If your base is not the capital: $137 or $134. Six hours from Trieste at 4.8 from 545 reviews, and twelve from Zagreb at 4.9 from 74 with Ljubljana added on the way. Both solve the same problem this page is about — the getting there — across a border, which is exactly where arranging it yourself stops being fun.
